To the land surveying profession, Over the past year, sweeping national security debates have reshaped segments of the geospatial technology landscape in the United States.

During the 2026 NSPS Spring Meeting, the Board of Directors met and brought forward several important national initiatives that will directly impact surveyors across the country, including here in Utah.

The Western Federation of Professional Surveyors (WFPS) Board of Directors met on March 17, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in conjunction with the Western Regional Survey Conference.

As the Education Committee chair for this year, my goal is to strengthen engagement between our organization and students, educators and early-career professionals.

I’ve been fortunate to spend more than 30 years in surveying, working my way from drafting and field operations to licensure and leadership roles along the way. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with others.

We hear it all the time, particularly in politics; our participation isn’t that critical because the outcome will be the same, the majority has too large a voice.
